A devastating ice storm swept through Northern Michigan on March 29th, knocking out power to thousands of residents for an extended period. While Andrea and her daughter stayed with me, warm and safe courtesy of my generator, her trailer suffered extensive damage due to a burst pipe caused by freezing temperatures, resulting in flooding, destroyed floors, and ruined personal belongings. Moreover, when power was restored, the surge damaged her furnace, leaving her without a reliable heating source. Unfortunately, Andrea's father had allowed their home insurance to lapse, and despite her best efforts to secure new coverage, she has been rejected by all agencies due to the trailer's state of disrepair. Given the circumstances, it seems that the most viable option would be for Andrea to start over.
