Support Andre Ivory's Memory; Life, Love, and Artistry

My name is Jacolé, and I am fundraising for my partner of 26 years, Andre Ivory. Andre is a beautiful dancer and dance teacher who suffered a massive stroke on January 27th, 2024, due to a blood infection that caused a bacteria growth in his heart. The stroke has left him non-verbal and unable to move his right side. Additionally, he has suffered more complications that have left him in a more critical status. He has been in the hospital for six months and has a long recovery road ahead of him. We know God is in control and believe a miracle is manifesting.

 

Born in Southern California, Andre showed a passion for dance early on. With determination, drive, and talent, he turned his dream into action, first attending the world-renowned LACHSA and then NYU Tisch's Dance Conservatory. Following NYU, he performed throughout NYC and, more recently, began teaching in NYC schools, specifically in Black & Brown communities.

Andre has a long road ahead, not only in terms of rehabilitation but also in terms of future medical procedures. Andre is a loving, creative individual who has used his God-given talent of dance to inspire and instruct the youth since I've known him, especially those from lower economic backgrounds like himself. His family and I want to ensure he is in the best position to functionally recover and receive the best possible treatments/therapies and care available.

UPDATE...

It is with much sadness that I write this update. My love, my companion, and my friend moved on and transitioned, leaving the world on Saturday evening, August 24th.

Although the pain and loss are sorely felt and will be for the rest of my life - I am blessed and at peace and grateful for the experience and opportunity that I could be at his side throughout this journey, every step of the way, every day to the very end.

His final day was infused with music, joy, love, and laughter. Although he could not communicate as before, I know he was at peace and carried into a better place on the wings of love.

Andre, thank you for being in my life and allowing me the opportunity to love and exist in your presence.
