Please help Andre. Hello, I’m Max. I’ve decided to make this gofundme as I am extremely worried for my dear friend, and want to help. I was the owner of my cinema rental house, Digital Retina, working out of California. My very lovely friend and service tech, Andre, was apart of the journey, and became the backbone of our rental house. He was an incredibly helpful and knowledgeable tech who helped me create a company that felt genuine. He loves and cares deeply for his job!

Andre is an incredibly passionate and skilled camera, lens, and lighting tech. His commitment every day to my company helped us create incredible business and he has a true guarantee of quality in his work. He has worked in the camera department and film industry for over 20 years. Andre is more than a tech, he is an incredibly dependable crew member.

However, due to a business partner making bad fiscal decisions, we had to close our rental house doors. This has left Andre wrongfully in the cross fire of bad business, and I do not want to see my friend suffer because of this.

Andre currently is homeless, living in our rental shop, until we close doors completely. He has let me know that he is coming to an end of the money he has and can’t pay general bills for food, clothes, or housing.

Andre is also very prone to depression. Given that he is autistic, his depression becomes heavily unmanageable, and is very difficult for Andre to climb out of. He suffers a lot from high emotions in dealing with his Autism.

Now, without my company bringing in constant work, he works primarily freelance, which is becoming scarcer as the current film climate is dwindling for freelance work. As a freelance cinematographer for 7 years, and someone who has worked with numerous techs, I know Andre simply is the best.

Anything helps. A donation can help him purchase a meal, or pay for a new set of socks.

If you are working in the film industry and can’t afford a donation, please consider hiring Andre to tech your gear on your next job. Andre is also a camera operator, director, AD, and first/second AC. If you feel you could use an industry veteran with 20 years on the camera department, please consider hiring him.

All money will go to Andre. I aim to make $30,000 for him which will support his rent in California, and money to pay for an hot meal until he is able to get back on his feet!
