After over 16 years of pelvic pain that is now severely impacting my life again, I am moving forward with a complete hysterectomy and oophorectomy in hopes of getting much needed relief.
This journey started for me at 16. After doctoring everywhere, I was finally diagnosed with Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and did extensive physical therapy which helped tremendously.
The severe pain returned when I was 20, and a laparoscopy was performed but nothing was found.
The pain got back down to bearable until December 2020. I went to the ER repeatedly due to unmanageable pain and was diagnosed with Pelvic Congestion Syndrome, which is varicose veins on both of my ovaries with the left being extremely tortuous and dilated. I had an Ovarian Vein Embolization procedure to redirect blood flow, and after about 3 months was feeling good again. I also completed another round of physical therapy shortly after.
Fast forward to this spring, pelvic pain returned even worse with horrendous periods leaving me doubled over and at a loss. In September, I had another laparoscopy and stage 3 Endometriosis was found and excised.
I thought this was the light at the end of the tunnel, but I’m back in excruciating pain. I am missing work, fun, and have very low quality of life at this point. The surgeon believes it is the Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) acting up again, adhesions from the Endometriosis removal on my uterus, or both. Endo and PCS are both chronic diseases.
I have exhausted all options except for hysterectomy/oophorectomy and have made the heavy choice to schedule it at age 32 in hopes of getting my life back.
At this point, I have used all my PTO for the year. I am scheduling surgery ASAP though because I am suffering immensely. This surgery and the time off needed for recovery will be a hit financially for me and Tyler. Additionally, after just having surgery in September, we will be hit with another hefty surgery bill.
This is such a challenging time in our lives and it’s not easy asking for help but we could use it. We would greatly appreciate any support you can give. Thank you so much for your consideration.
