Hi! I'm Andi*, a trans woman starting out on her journey. I'm running into the usual things as an American - despite my healthcare plan through work, I'm finding a lot of things are either not covered or are only covered when certain boxes are checked or dances are performed.

Another wrench in the gears is dealing with bigots within the healthcare system itself. As of today, not one bit of medical coverage or referral work outside of my psych visits are being honored by my insurance, and it is such an interesting coincidence that they're all part of potential gender affirming care. When I called to ask about it, I was told that sometimes care is denied because of state law(s) limiting access to it, but my state has yet to put such laws in place - not that they're not trying.

This means I'm currently at 7500 on credit that I simply cannot pay back in a reasonable amount of time. I've given up on covering future care for this drive, right now it's about getting myself back to where I was before it began, financially, and then being much more careful about pre-approvals and potentially involving legal counsel.

I know things are tight for everyone, especially with the economic downturn and folks getting furloughed, displaced, and so forth. But, if you do have a few pennies to spare, would you consider sending them my way? Anything not spent will go towards that future surgery fund.
