My name is Rachael. Andi is a sisterly type of friend and co-worker. Andi is such an important part of my life. Along with being one of the first employees to start our Rachael's Kids family back in 2007, Andi and her family are having a very hard time. A few weeks ago, Mike, her fiancé of 8 years, suffered a stroke. No one plans for this; who can afford the aftermath after a dramatic life turn? It literally took both her and Mike's income to be able to support their family. Thankfully, Mike has good odds for recovery, yet nonetheless, this road will be hard and long. Mike's stroke was due to his diabetes, which is yet another bridge to climb. Just the medication alone to regulate and control his diabetes will cause them financial hardship. Also, adding co-pays for many doctors/specialists, therapy, and being out of work. Mike's stroke affected the back part of his brain, making it hard for him to do daily tasks, drive, and take care of himself. Which leads me to how hard it is for our Rachael's Kids family to see Andi struggle. No one should have to choose between caring for their family member who needs them and being scared to not be able to keep a roof over their head, food on the table, bills caught up, and the ongoing medical expense to continue treatment.
Andi will not ask anyone for help, and for that reason, I am asking for her. We all love her and her family. In our field, we don't do it for the income or health benefits. We do it for the family connection and love we receive each day, but her income alone does not give her and Mike a fighting chance. Our RKC family is having a hard time watching her struggle, yet somehow she still comes to work each day with a smile and love for others.
Please join me and our team to give her some reassurance that she is loved, supported, and has a family of friends to help her during these challenging times ahead.
Andi serves as a foundation to this team, and I am just hoping to show her how much she is loved. We recognize it's hard out there for all, so any donation would be a blessing and a tremendous help to her and Mike.
Thank you,
Rachael and RKC Team
