Support and Prayers for Ellie

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

It is with heavy hearts that we reach out to you on behalf of the Anderson family who have been friends of ours for many years.

A week ago, Ryan and Rebekah experienced a parent's worst nightmare. Ellie their 12-year-old daughter was struck by a car crossing the street on her way to school. Ellie sustained multiple head injuries, including bleeding and swelling on her brain. She was rushed to Children's hospital where she underwent emergency brain surgery to remove the blood and relieve the severe pressure. Due to the location of the surgery her left side of her body is greatly affected. She is very weak in her left hand and leg and will need to relearn to use both. Ellie also suffered a broken bone in her ear, a cut in her spleen and road rash on her hands, knees, elbows where some of the cuts are very deep.

Ellie spent the last week at Childrens hospital in the pediatric intensive care unit. A miracle has been underway, and Ellie is making some improvements however, she still has a long road ahead of her both physically and mentally. Her recovery will entail intensive speech, occupational and physical therapies that will go on for at least a year. Ellie is an amazing, vibrant and fun loving 12-year-old who wants to be back hanging with her friends.

The Andersons operate a home daycare. The daycare was closed for three days after this tragic accident. As Rebekah stayed at her daughter's side in the hospital Ryan reopened the daycare with help from family. This tragic accident has greatly affected their income and any assistance will go towards Ellie's hospital and rehabilitation needs.
