Support and Memory making for Tia and her family

Tia is 19 years old and lives with her parents, Neil, a postman in Hereford, and her mother Selina and her three younger sisters, Sophie (18), Jasmine (15) and Skye (13). Tia has a learning disability and epilepsy, but had been leading a happy and healthy life, previously attending Blackmartson and then Barr’s Court School, before going toThe Hub in Hereford.

In early 2021, Tia complained of stomach ache and headaches and was undergoing investigations at Hereford county hospital. On 17th May following numerous hospital visits, a scan revealed the unthinkable - that there was a mass growing inside Tia’s brain. Tia was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham for emergency drainage of fluid on her brain, and for a biopsy to be performed.

The family endured over 3 weeks of agonising waiting until the results were established.

On 8th June, the family received the devastating news that the tumour was not only a grade 4 cancerous tumour, but that it was growing deep inside her brain, in a very delicate place and was exceptionally rare.

Tia has undergone lots of tests and scans, being super brave and showing us just how amazing she is.

On 24th June Tia had an extremely risky operation to try to remove some of the Tumour.

Tia has a fantastic team at The QE and the surgeon managed to remove around 90-95% of her tumour. Tia is currently recovering from this surgery and is hoping to undergo Radiotherapy and chemotherapy as soon as she has recovered enough to do so.

Tia’s family has an amazing support network around them with all their friends and family, however the costs financially of being in Birmingham away from their three other children are starting to take its toll.

We are hoping to raise funds through a variety of ways in order to help support Tia’s family going forwards, and for them to provide experiences for Tia and her siblings and make memories together.
