“I have Cancer”, the first words I heard from a brief phone call on July 19th, then proceeded by asking me 1000 questions about my day, and if I was doing well. See that’s the thing about selfless people they always seem to worry about everyone else but themselves. I have been staring at this screen the past hour rewording the first two sentences when I came to the conclusion, that no matter what words I write they will not do justice to explain the beautiful and amazing woman that my dear friend Robyn Mcmillan is.

Recently, Robyn was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer.

If you know Robyn, you will know that she is a courageous single mom of 4 awesome children (2 that are currently in university); And, if you have been around Robyn, I am sure that she has been a shoulder to lean on, an empathetic ear for listening, laughed with you, stood up for you, and made you feel good about yourself in someway... and yet has never asked for anything in return.

Supporting a family of 4 on one salary was limiting, and yet this woman always found a way to give to others when she could. Now that Robyn has cancer, she has had to give up her job – I want to be able to help with the exhausting financial burden of medication that is not covered by OHIP, travel costs to the London Cancer Clinic, and a little extra to help her get by while times are tough. I know that the holidays are close and that funds are tight for people, but I really want to give back to a woman that has given so much to everyone around her.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you for any support you are able to give whether it just be a kind word to brighten my friend’s spirit or a donation to help support her family.
