Hi. My name is Tim Spangler. I am one of 6 children: 5 boys and a girl. We are all adults now, but we still like to behave like kids, and our 85-year-old Mama still scolds us!!

As adults, we've all chosen our career paths a long time ago. Some of us are definitely more successful than others. Here is where I thought it necessary to set up a GoFundMe account. It's for my brother, Steve. Steve is 63 years old. When he was much younger, he earned a living doing Electrical Design. As technology got more complex, his education did not coincide with the industry needs. So, Steve moved on looking for a different type of work. He decided to go to barber school. He finished and worked hard to open his own barber shop. He succeeded for about 12 years. In early December, he had a second stroke. The first one was mild, and he bounced back quite well and got back to work. This recent stroke was different. He had a brain bleed with a more serious stroke and is now left not being able to work for an undetermined amount of time while he heals from brain surgery and through occupational, cognitive, and physical rehab. He lives by himself, he rents a one-floor apartment, and he collects Social Security. While he succeeded as a self-employed certified barber, this is no longer possible because of his stroke. One thing that continues, however, is his cost of living: rent, utilities, groceries, family obligations (he has a beautiful daughter who is 22 years old with Down's Syndrome who he spoils regularly!), and other expenses. Steve is fighting hard to bounce back and I (we) feel strongly that if some of his financial obligations were made less difficult, this would afford him the opportunity to focus on self-care with less stress and inability to cover his expenses.
