Support Anchovy High School's Bathroom Renovation - Phase 1

Donation protected
The Anchovy Alumni Association International Chapter is calling on all proud Anchovians, friends, and supporters to join us in this important effort to renovate four student bathrooms across both campuses of Anchovy High School in St. James, Jamaica. We are launching this project in phases, with Phase 1 to be completed by September 2025, just in time for the start of the new school year. This is not just about plumbing and tiles. It’s about restoring dignity, protecting student health, and lighting up the best in every child who walks through our school’s doors.

A Little History
Anchovy High School has proudly served generations of students since its founding. The current bathrooms, built in the 1970s, have long surpassed their useful life. After decades of use, they have become outdated, deteriorated, and in urgent need of repair. Crumbling walls, broken fixtures, poor plumbing, and unsanitary conditions have made them not only unpleasant but often unsafe.
Our students deserve better. As we prepare for a new academic year, our goal is to ensure they return to clean, functioning, and dignified bathrooms—a basic human right, and one that directly affects attendance, hygiene, and academic performance.

Who We Are: Anchovy Alumni Association International Chapter

We are a passionate network of alumni, proud Anchovians, who are deeply committed to giving back to the school that shaped our lives. Whether in Jamaica, the U.S., Canada, or beyond, we work collectively to:
Support major school improvement projects
Provide scholarships and tuition assistance
Mentor and guide current students
Uplift our Alma Mater and the wider Anchovy community
Through fundraising efforts, partnerships, and hands-on service, we’re building a bridge between the past and future of Anchovy High.

Our Last GoFundMe: Community in Action
In 2020, the Anchovy Past Students’ Association, in collaboration with our International Chapter, launched a GoFundMe campaign for 15-year-old Kaylia Pinnock, a student diagnosed with a Stage Two brain tumor. Facing medical bills of over JMD $241,560 per month, Kaylia had to stop attending school due to lack of treatment.
Thanks to the generosity of our Anchovy family and supporters worldwide, we raised over JMD $1.4 million, allowing Kaylia to receive critical care and return to the classroom. Her story is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together. And now, we are coming together again—for every student at Anchovy.

Project Scope – Phase 1
This is Phase One of a two-phased renovation project. In this first phase, we will fully renovate one of four bathrooms, including:
  • Replacing toilets, sinks, and broken fixtures
  • Repairing damaged plumbing and drainage
  • Installing new tiles, partitions, and flooring
  • Improving lighting and ventilation
Ensuring clean, gender-appropriate, accessible facilities

Start Date: August 2025
Completion Goal Date: September 2025
Estimated Cost for Phase 1: $40,000 USD
With your help, we will transform this essential part of school life, and give our students a space that reflects their worth.

Join Us – Be the Light
We believe every student deserves access to safe and sanitary restrooms. With your support, we can make that a reality at Anchovy High School.

Here’s how you can help:
  • Donate — every dollar makes a difference
  • Share the link — spread the word across your networks; Facebook, Instagram, X, word-of-mouth, etc.
  • Engage your community — community business owners, churches, coworkers, WhatsApp groups, alumni

Let’s rally together as proud Anchovians and friends of Anchovy and show our students that we see them, we support them, and we’re invested in their future.

Together, we can once again live out the school’s powerful motto: “Light Up the Best in Me.”

Thank you for your generosity, your spirit, and your belief in what we’re building—one bathroom, one student, one act of kindness at a time.
