This is my mother, Ana. Loving mother of two, grandmother, and wife. She has struggled with 3 chronic illnesses over the years. Five years ago, she was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease. Her kidneys only work at 3%. At first, she was able to do peritoneal dialysis twice a day for an hour and live a somewhat normal life.

In July, she was rushed to the hospital because she was not able to breathe. It was found out that her lungs had built up 1 liter of liquid and her heart was extremely overworking itself, causing her to almost have a heart attack. Doctors went in and did surgery, removing the fluids and helping her heart with medications.

She has been to the hospital two more times after and has multiple doctor visits and even a home nurse. As of now, she has to be hooked up to her peritoneal dialysis machine 10 hours a day, takes up to 10 different medications every day, and is sometimes unable to move and get up out of bed. My mother is only 47.
