Support Anai & Wuilmer's Family on Their Asylum Journey

Donation protected
Hi all! As many of you know Denver saw a surge of migrants from the southern border in November. The city was ill prepared for the influx and I joined a grass roots effort of moms to help provide essentials and food for these newcomers. These families spent many grueling months walking from South America with their children - through multiple countries, through treacherous jungles and violent cartel run land, hungry, and some days surviving on only hope to get here. They came wishing for a better life for their children and the family they left behind.

At the very first distribution event that I attended I met Anai. She was holding her daughter Alondra, who reminded me so much of Elle. I felt this immediate connection to her as a mother of similar aged children. She also has a 3 year old son, Jeycob and her partner Wuilmer.

Over the last 5 months we have developed a wonderful friendship. It started with connecting a few times a week to drop off food and supplies. Then Anai and her kids would come over for play dates to get relief from living in the shelter. Now she helps to take care of Elle and is at my house 3 days a week. As their time at the shelter neared an end a generous neighbor, JJ, offered his basement apartment to the family to help them get on their feet. JJ and I have a formed a partnership, helping them navigate their new life in Denver.

We are asking that you help us support this family as they have begun their DHS court proceedings. We want to help them pay for an immigration lawyer as it will significantly increase their chances of winning their asylum case and fast track their ability to work legally in the country. They are working side jobs and saving money but they can't afford this on their own. There is also a significant fee to file their asylum paperwork.

They are wonderful people and it is not lost on me the incredible things they have endured to be here. The stories Anai and Wuilmer have told me about life in South America leave me admiring their bravery and courage for choosing to come to the US. Please join us in supporting them if you have the ability!

Thank you!
