Support Ana, Jeremy, and Ava After Eaton Fire
Donation protected
On January 7th, like so many others, my Mom, Ana, stepfather, Jeremy, and 8-year-old sister, Ava, devastatingly lost their home in Altadena to the Eaton fire, one of the wildfires currently burning in the LA area. They had spent the past year and a half fixing up / renovating their house and never could have imagined in their wildest dreams that, not only all of their hard work and effort would be destroyed, but that they would lose absolutely everything they owned and held so dear to them from one moment to the next.
When my Mom got home from work around 6:30pm on Tuesday, January 7th, her street / neighborhood appeared totally normal. By 7pm she, Jeremy, and Ava were evacuating their home with effectively nothing but the clothes on their backs, their three dogs, Tux, Tiki, and Tiggy, and their pet bird, LB. Upon pulling out of the driveway they were met with the sight of huge flames approaching, only 2 blocks from home. The fire moved rapidly, leveling virtually everything in its path, and on Wednesday afternoon we received the harrowing confirmation from a neighbor that their home had been completely destroyed - a total loss.
Thankfully, they are safe and made it out with their lives as well as their beloved pets, which is more than some can say. Still, in the aftermath of this horrendous event, it is a long, uncertain road ahead as they do not know when (or if) Ava will be able to go back to her school, and at this point don’t even know where they will be living. The vast majority of Altadena has been destroyed.
I am creating this page on their behalf because of the huge outpouring of love and support and all of the inquiries from friends and family of how to help them during this tragic, unprecedented time. This loss has been unimaginable. Though they will never recoup priceless, irreplaceable items such as childhood photographs, video tapes, belongings of deceased loved ones, etc., lost to the fire, my hope is that I can, at the very least, attempt to alleviate some of the financial burden of having to replace even the basic necessities that we so often take for granted.
This GoFundMe will allow them to begin to recover by giving them additional support as they embark on the incredibly long road ahead. Any contribution will help to replace basic items such as toiletries, clothing, Ava's school supplies, pet supplies etc.., as well as temporary housing costs, and basic day to day expenses while they get back on their feet.
If you would like to help, please feel free to donate any amount or even simply share this campaign with others. Thank you for all of your help, love, and support. It truly means the world!
