Hello everyone, I’m currently an undocumented senior attending The University of Texas at Austin for Theatre.

I transferred to UT Austin a year ago after earning my associates degree, I am currently 82% in completing my degree. I’m also holding a 4.0 GPA, while working and being involved in productions we do on campus.

On July 11, I received an email on the status of the Texas Dream Act. This act helped me as an undocumented student to receive financial aid through TASFA. Even though I have lived in the U.S. my whole life and attended school here; I no longer qualified. My tuition bill of $5,815 has gone up to $22,687.00. Since that day, I have pushed to fight for my right to continue my education.

I am the first generation in my family to attend college. I fear that my three years of hard work might go down the drain due to insufficient funds. But I am hoping to remain hopeful; pushing to cover the deposit to keep my registration for Fall 2025.

An emergency financial assistance was given to me from an immigration group. But unfortunately, it had limited funds. I am hoping to raise $18,000 to cover my tuition for this semester. But, I will continue to work and help myself cover some of my costs.

Even though I live in fear, I wanted to speak from my heart while writing this. Any small donation would be appreciated. I would be grateful with a share or a prayer. I’m not the only one going through this, I’m hoping there’s a light at the end for all of us. Thank you to the gentleman who inspired me to do this.

Hola a todos, Actualmente soy un estudiante indocumentado en mi último año en la Universidad de Texas en Austin, donde estudio Teatro.

Me transferí a UT Austin hace un año después de obtener mi título asociado, y hasta ahora he completado el 82% de mi carrera. Mantengo un promedio de 4.0, mientras trabajo y participo en las producciones de nuestro campus.

 El 11 de julio recibí un correo electrónico sobre el estado de la Texas Dream Act. Esta ley me había ayudado, como estudiante indocumentado, a recibir ayuda financiera a través de TASFA. Aunque he vivido en Estados Unidos toda mi vida y he estudiado aquí, ya no califico. Mi matrícula de $5,815 aumentó a $22,687. Desde ese día he luchado por mi derecho a continuar mis estudios.  

Soy la primera generación en mi familia en asistir a la universidad. Tengo miedo de que mis tres años de esfuerzo se pierdan por falta de recursos, pero sigo con la esperanza de poder cubrir el depósito y mantener mi inscripción para el semestre de otoño 2025. 

Un grupo de apoyo para inmigrantes me otorgó asistencia financiera de emergencia, pero lamentablemente los fondos eran limitados. Mi meta es recaudar $18,000 para cubrir la matrícula de este semestre. Aun así, continuaré trabajando y apoyándome en lo que pueda. 

Aunque vivo con miedo, quise escribir esto desde el corazón. Cualquier donación, por pequeña que sea, sería profundamente apreciada. También me ayudaría mucho con una compartida o una oración. Sé que no soy el único que atraviesa esta situación, y espero que al final podamos ver una luz para todos nosotros. Gracias al caballero que me inspiró a hacer esto.
