Donation protected
What is Needed?
Financial support is immediately needed for a young man, recently released from a detention facility that is facing deportation proceedings. This young man has consulted an attorney and he has a strong case that will allow him to remain in the US. All of his legal fees are covered, but he requires assistance to afford basic necessities. These funds will support the young man with material needs such as clothing, medication, and housing over the next six months as he begins his legal journey towards obtaining permanent residency in the United States.

Budget:
Clothing = $200  (he is moving to a cold state and needs a heavy jacket, boots, gloves, and sweaters to last him through the winter)
Transportation = $500  (to take him from his current location to where he will be living for the next 6 months)
Groceries = $2,625 ($15/day for 6 months)
Toiletries = $180 ($30/month for 6 months)
COVID testing = $594 ($99/test for 6 months)
Living Stipend = $1,500 ($250/month for 6 months)

What Happened?

After losing his father, a young man immigrated to the United States in hopes of reconnecting with his family in the United States. He was detained at the border and remained in detention for six months. After being released, he was able to move in with his siblings who live in Alabama, but he is at risk for deportation living in Alabama. The young man has a guardian here in New York who is ready and willing to take care of him. Once he arrives here, he can begin his path towards citizenship.

Returning to his home country would pose a serious risk to this young man. Financial support is needed to help with living expenses and transportation fees for this young man as he begins this process.

Both quarantine housing and permanent housing (with the guardian) for the young man have been secured. However, funds are needed to obtain clothing, food, and toiletries for the young man. The money would also help to ensure the young man has access to COVID-19 testing and education. Lastly, and most importantly, any funds obtained during this campaign would assist with the transportation costs associated with getting the young man to New York.
