I live and work in Orkney, a small group of Scottish islands where wind, weather, and imagination shape life. From my seaview studio, I create digital worlds that blend art, ecology, and storytelling through games and creative technologies.
This year, I’ve been selected for the Scottish Games Accelerator in Stirling, a programme designed to help independent creators from Scotland to grow sustainable studios and bring new games to life. For me, it’s a rare and vital opportunity: to represent Orkney’s creative voice, build networks within Scotland’s games industry, and develop new ways for island innovation to thrive.
Because I live in the islands, each session requires me to fly from Kirkwall to Edinburgh and then travel onward to Stirling. Across ten sessions, those journeys add up not only in time, but in cost. I receive an air discount as an island resident, but the total travel still reaches around £3,000 for the full programme.
I’m launching this GoFundMe to raise £3,000 to cover the essential travel costs for attending all ten in-person Accelerator sessions in Stirling. Every contribution goes directly toward flights, buses, and trains, the real, physical links that make this island-to-mainland collaboration possible.
By supporting this campaign, you’re doing more than helping one person reach Stirling. You’re championing Orkney’s creative voice in the national conversation. Join me and show that world-class innovation thrives in small, remote places powered by community, imagination, and resilience. Donate now and help amplify island creativity.
If you know my work through Wizard Keen or my educational and artistic projects, you’ll know that I believe games can tell powerful stories about who we are and the worlds we want to build. The Accelerator will provide me with the tools, mentors, and networks to further develop that vision and bring it back home, investing the knowledge I gain in local creative opportunities and youth engagement in Orkney.
I’ll share updates, travel notes, and creative reflections along the way, so supporters can follow the journey in real time from island runway to workshop room and back again.
Thank you for helping keep island creativity in motion. Your support today lets me make the trip, participate fully, and bring the lessons and inspiration home. Please donate and share this campaign so we can build a brighter, more connected creative future together.
