My name is Mark McLellan, and in 2008, I single-handedly founded the Active Search Results (ASR) Search Engine. As a solo entrepreneur working a day job for the Army, I created and funded a groundbreaking technology: the Active Search Results Page Ranking Technology (ASR-PRT), patented in the U.S. (2014, Patent No. 8849807), Australia (2015), and Canada (2017).

My Invention: ASR-PRT revolutionized search by prioritizing active, relevant websites and removing outdated and stale ones, such as those from defunct businesses. My goal was to make online searches more reliable for users worldwide, and I believed this technology would one day be adopted by major search engines.

The Challenge: Since 2023, I’ve noticed major similarities between my patented technology and features in Google’s local search. I have a fully documented claim chart that shows all similarities for each claim. To investigate and pursue fair compensation, I need a patent attorney—but their retainers, even with contingency agreements, are beyond my means as an individual inventor.
