We are Conscious Basel, an independent, non-profit scientific association founded in January 2026 in Basel, Switzerland. Our team brings together researchers from neuroscience, molecular biology, computer science and related disciplines, united by one central question:

What are the fundamental mechanisms underlying conscious perception?

Our work focuses on building a scientific foundation to better understand consciousness from a natural science perspective. As a first step, we are currently developing a structured substance database to enable structure–activity relationship analyses and support future research into neural correlates of consciousness.

All of our work is currently done on a voluntary basis. To move forward and turn our ideas into tangible scientific progress, we rely on external funding.
