Hey, we are Ashley & Fraser from Edinburgh, Scotland and we’re taking on another difficult overnight hike of Acatenango in Guatemala to help raise funds for a dog shelter where we plan to volunteer in Peru.
About the shelter:
The shelter was established in November 2021 and currently has approximately 85 dogs they are caring for. Since they started, they have helped 250 dogs find their forever home both nationally and internationally. They use donations to assist with adoption, medical bills, food, maintenance of the shelter and raise awareness in local communities . Your donation helps animals most in need and you can help animals that the shelter would otherwise not be able to facilitate.
About the hike:
We hiked Acatenango in 2023 and the day after it was over, we swore we would never do it again because we couldn’t walk for atleast one week. The hike takes about 7-8 hours to reach base camp where you sleep for the night then an additional very difficult 2 hours hike early morning for sunrise. It was one of the best things we have ever done but also the most difficult. We want to hike this again to raise funds for the dog shelter because connecting with stray dogs is a massive part of our travelling experience!
Any donation no matter how small will really help the dogs and the shelter grow and your support is much appreciated!
