Hi, everyone! I am posting my story in the hopes of providing my daughter with an amazing experience. I am a newly single mother who moved closer to family last year to "start over." It has been a stressful past year... My daughter started high school in a new town, I went back to school to find a new path and started a new job, and on top of that, I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia. Despite these challenges, my daughter and I are finding our way. She is excelling in school as a straight-A honor student!
She has the opportunity to travel to Germany with her German teacher during spring break of 2027 (her junior year). Her teacher has asked me to go as well. As you can imagine, the cost is very high. This is a chance to give my daughter an experience that I probably would never be able to. I am excited to go as well, as I love to travel but have only been to Europe once as a teenager. Financially, I am rebuilding my life. I could never afford this for us, but I want so badly for her to experience this. To quote her German teacher: "I always believed that traveling is one of life's greatest gifts because it creates lasting memories, builds essential life skills, and fosters personal growth that material possessions cannot."
I hope and pray that this is an experience we can share and enjoy the memories. It is a 9-day trip through an educational platform, WorldStrides, which her teacher has used before. My daughter can even earn three credits from this trip! Funds will be used for the cost of the trip for me and my daughter and other expenses that are not covered, such as baggage fees, tips for the tour guides, souvenirs, etc.
