Visiting Japan is a unique opportunity I may never have again. My father lived in Japan during his military service and encouraged me to pursue this trip, emphasizing the rare chance to travel and grow. I want to experience Japan to learn and embrace new perspectives.
Traveling to Japan with my school offers independence and exposure to new cultures. In ten days, I will explore the cities, visit shops, and participate in traditional experiences such as kimono and tea ceremonies at Tenryu-ji Temple.
In my home, I’ve always been exposed to a mix of cultures, with my father being from Mexico and my mom from Georgia; however, the culture in Japan is something I haven’t had the chance to learn about, and I think with firsthand education of the country, I would also have an even stronger respect for the people and culture.
Lastly, I understand how much of a privilege it is for this trip to even be a choice for me. That’s why I’m choosing not to take it for granted. If you are able to support me in this trip, I would be eternally grateful, more than I already am.
