Hi everyone,
My name is Theo and I’m a young professional cellist based in London.
As part of my job, I must have access to a fine-quality cello and bow to play on at all times so I can play at my best.
I have recently been informed that I must return the bow I have been borrowing for the past year, as the owner needs it back. I have therefore decided it is now time to find a bow that I can call my own.
I am fortunate to have been able to loan a fine cello from April 2025 thanks to the generosity of the Tompkins Tate Charitable Trust, and it would be a dream to find a bow to match this level of craftsmanship and quality.
In my recent search, I took on trial and fell in love with a beautiful modern bow built by renowned maker Mark Yakoushkin at Oxford Violins. I have made it my goal to raise the funds (approximately £4,000) needed to purchase this bow.
As an early-career classical musician, I am unfortunately not in the position to finance this bow on my own. But I know that by reaching out for support from those around me, I can come closer to achieving my goals.
Every person who chooses to give will become part of my journey and will have my enduring debt of gratitude. You can feel proud of helping the next generation of musicians continue to thrive in this competitive and changing profession.
I will be in touch personally with all of my supporters to say thank you and would be delighted to develop a future relationship. You can find links to me performing in concert below and in the title of this post.
Yours sincerely,
Theo Bently Curtin
