On Jan. 6, Amy Kercher's son Robert was severely injured when he was hit by a car in Santa Clarita, California. Last month, many of Amy's friend's and family raised funds to help Amy travel to California so she could be with her son at the hospital ICU.
We are are hoping to raise an additional $2,000 to help Amy remain in California for at least another six to eight weeks. This will cover her lodging, transportation and food expenses as she continues to care for Robert and advocate for his needs.
Amy shared the following update today: "We are in the process of figuring out where he will land next! The labyrinth of the insurance maze has yet to reveal our next steps and the next phase of his care! My leave has been extended till the first part of April, and I have been carefully and frugally using the funds so generously donated by many of you! (I still have about 1/3 of them!)
I have found very reasonable lodging here in Santa Clarita which has allowed me to stretch out my time here! When I first arrived, we thought it would be a two week stay, but I have been here over a month now! They are slowly weaning Robert off the ventilator and he is now in the Definitive Observation Unit and is out of the ICU. His case manager is looking for an LTAC (Long-Term Acute Care) facility and we are not sure when or where he will released from Henry Mayo and moved to another facility. He and I welcome your prayers and continued support on his road to recovery."
Please join us in supporting Amy so she can focus her energy on Robert's continued care and healing. Thank you!
