Amy Colagiovanni is a third-year medical resident in Portland, working tirelessly toward her dream of becoming a Sports Medicine physician. As Chief Resident, she’s taken on extra responsibilities, but the financial reality of residency is tough—her rent and basic living expenses stretch her modest salary to the limit. Despite these challenges, Amy has applied to Sports Medicine Fellowship programs across the country, a crucial next step for her career. The cost of traveling to interviews is overwhelming, and she’s worried that missing in-person opportunities could set her back just as she’s on the verge of reaching her goal. On top of daily expenses, Amy is managing debt from her education and training. Still, she keeps her head up and continues to give her all to her patients and her field.

Amy’s passion for Sports Medicine began in high school, when a sports injury led her to work with a non-surgical Sports Medicine doctor. That experience inspired her to help others—both athletes recovering from injuries and everyday people striving to make exercise a healthy part of their lives. Her journey has been marked by resilience and determination. Raised by her single mom, with no other support, Amy learned early on the value of hard work and responsibility. She was valedictorian of her high school class and earned a full scholarship to Oregon State University. Through every challenge, Amy has remained strong, confident, and deeply committed to her goals. She and her mom are extremely close, and Amy often says she couldn’t be where she is today without her mom’s support. Any help will allow Amy to attend the interviews she’s worked so hard to earn and take the next step in her medical career.
