From Florida to LSU — I’m Chasing My Dream, and I Need Your Help
Hi, my name is Amy Figueroa, and I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to attend Louisiana State University to study Sports Management and Marketing — a path I’m deeply passionate about and one that I know can change my life.
I had the option to stay in Florida and attend college for free, but I chose to step out of my comfort zone and chase something bigger. This wasn’t an easy decision, but I believe in pushing myself and creating a future I’m proud of.
I’ve worked hard to get here:
✔️ I graduated cum laude with a 4.1 GPA
✔️ I received the highest scholarship LSU offers so far
✔️ I qualified for federal financial aid
✔️ I’ve submitted multiple additional scholarship essays — but I won’t know the results until August, which is after tuition and housing payments are due
✔️ I’ve given back to my community through thousands of volunteer hours — because I believe in making a difference wherever I can
Unfortunately, I recently had surgery on my knee to repair a torn ACL, which meant I couldn’t take on a summer job to save money like I had planned.
Even with all the support I’ve been awarded, I still need to come up with $25,000 to cover the cost of my first year — including tuition, housing, books, and basic living expenses.
My mom, a single parent and one of my biggest supporters, has always done everything she can for me. But even superheroes have limits, and this financial burden is more than she can carry alone.
Once classes begin, I’ll be working to support myself while staying focused on my education. I’m doing everything I can to avoid student loans, and that’s why I’m reaching out for help.
If you’re able to give — even just $1 — it truly makes a difference. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing this link could help me reach someone who can.
I’ve come this far because I believe in myself. I’m hoping now that others might believe in me, too.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being a part of this next chapter in my life.
With love and gratitude,
