Hi! I need some help and hate asking for it. Firstly, please know that I don't want anyone who can't spare the money to send it. Now, a bit about what is going on with me. I have an illness known as AVN (Avascular Necrosis). It affects different bones in the body and happens when for whatever reason a lack of blood flow to the bone has caused it to die. Before I was diagnosed, I never even thought of a bone as being "alive". Well, let me tell you, when a bone 'dies' it causes a lot of pain. I was diagnosed in February 2022 but had suffered from pain since around 2000, beginning with what felt like a pulled muscle in my thigh. What started off feeling like a aching dull muscle pain grew worse over the years to the point to where my legs will often hurt even at rest and I often need assistance walking. My illness has limited my ability to work outside the house. I work from home on a part time basis as of now, the company is hoping to get more work as they grow and promote me to full time status. I'm just thankful that the option to work at home is available.
Beginning Nov 15, I will start my journey to a new life when I undergo my first operation on my right leg. The left leg, hopefully, can be done as early as six weeks later. Doctors generally like to wait at least 12 weeks between surgeries but in cases where both limbs are equally bad, it can be done as early as 6 weeks later, so long as everything goes as expected with no complications.
I cannot WAIT to walk again without pain. To dance again. To play with my twin grand girls for the first time without pain. To work, to love, to travel... all the lovely things. Without pain.
The money will be used for hospital and/or medical expenses not covered by my insurance, physical therapy not covered by insurance, any bills related to daily living - power, water, gasoline, etc... to make the transition from hospital to caregivers to home easier on me and everyone helping me. My friend Amy (yes, two Amy's! lol!) is staying with me during surgery and the days after while I need assistance. I'll have people dog sitting and house sitting. I should be feeling better with in two weeks and cleared to drive within 4-6 weeks. I'm already stressed about holding all this together while also getting through surgery and healing, I'd really hate to have some utility cut off in the meantime. Right now, my utilities are paid and I'm getting by but the few days after going under the knife, I may be out of it a few days.
That said, people are having it hard right now. I don't expect anything from anyone, so please don't feel bad if you can't contribute. If you can spare a dollar or two and/or a prayer or good vibes, I'll be equally blessed to receive them.
Dr. Cameron with Prisma Health will be performing my surgeries.
