I am Sue Ream and my daughter Amy Lynne Zimmerman Doss (47) was rushed to a hospital in OKC because she was having trouble breathing, sky-high blood pressure, and swollen ankles. She spent 20 days in the hospital, 5 of them in the ICU, where she was diagnosed with a terminal disease called Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). This is when the arteries close off in the lungs, increasing pressure on the heart to pump blood. The lung becomes unable to pass oxygen efficiently. She is on the only medication that can help her, which is Remodulin, it is administered through a subq pump that is always attached to her body. She struggles daily with the negative side effects of Remodulin.
Amy has always worked a very physical job, which she will no longer be able to do. Amy has no benefits from her previous job. Amy’s goal is to work in an environment that educates people about this disease as it is widely mis-diagnosed.
We are asking for help for immediate medical and living expenses.
She has a senior in high school and a 19-year-old son who is her main caregiver when he is not working. Her diagnosis involves treatment for life because PAH is incurable and the medication only slows the progression of the disease. We are asking if it is placed on your heart to help, please do.
