Amy had a surgery in November for stage 4 endometriosis and it was upon that surgery that cancer was found in her right ovary. She underwent many medical tests and another surgery in January to biopsy the cancer to stage it for treatment moving forward. Amy has been a teacher for 25 years and has always lived paycheck to paycheck on a single income salary. Amy has a high medical deductible and 30% co-insurance. Her medical bills have now surpassed $10,000 before chemo begins. In addition, Amy only has one sick day left and any additional time will be unpaid.
