Support Amy's family through this tough process

Donation protected
Hey friends, I’m Justin. I unfortunately have quite a tragic story to share. 3 weeks ago, my friend Amy was at work, while the water filtration system in her apartment exploded. Water flooded her apartment and leaked into the tenants' homes living beside and downstairs from her. The situation is complicated and dire as her family did not have home owner insurance while this happened.
For the past 3 weeks Amy and her parents haven't been able to stay in their apartment, so they have been sleeping on the floor of Amy’s uncle’s house. They are still waiting for the restoration of the apartment to be complete, as the damage was significant.
The family will have to pay a $50,000 deductible for the damage. They already have an immense mortgage, and it almost seems impossible for the family to be able to afford the deductible. The family is a first generation immigrant family and Amy is the only one who speaks fluent English. She is responsible for taking care of all the logistics while she is working long hours in the hospital. She is overburdened by the process and the daunting price tag of $50,000.
The situation is further complicated by her parents being separated for several years, but her dad is now staying with the family to ensure the issue is resolved. Amy is surrounded by tension and fighting within her family right now. Between her situation at home and the process of restoration, she has not been able to have a break for the last three weeks.
This coming September Amy is planning to attend nursing school at BCIT as she has been working hard in hopes of becoming a registered nurse. At her graduation ceremony at UBC this past Spring, I saw the biggest smile on her face. I know God has been working through her and helped her finally get accepted into the nursing program after years of hard work. Due to this current situation though, it is unlikely that she will remain enrolled this fall. The enrolment department will only hold her deferral until January 2024. If she is unable to attend by this time, she will have to retake several courses and re-apply to the program. She has been dreaming of becoming a nurse for some time, despite facing many obstacles in the past and knowing that she may have to reapply to the program has broken her heart.
I hope that you can join me in continuing to pray for Amy and her family. Pray that God is able to provide peace and a sense of direction for the family that can work towards a resolution of this problem.
I also am hoping we can help them financially. I have created a Gofundme page for people who are willing to support her family in this way. We understand that the deductible is a huge amount, but anything helps. Knowing that people are eager to help really gives her the courage to get through the day. If you are unable to donate, that’s totally fine. Simply praying and showing that you care already means the world to her!
I am so thankful that you have taken the time and consideration to read this post. I hope you all have a great week!
