Amy was 11 years old. A loving daughter, a big sister, and a light in her family’s life. She leaves behind her 6-year-old brother and parents who did everything in their power to fight for her.

In October of last year, after seeking a second medical opinion, Amy’s family learned she had a brain tumor. They held on to hope and did everything they could. The doctors gave Amy a brain biopsy which led to tumor seeding: a rare biopsy complication, more common in brain tumors, that meant the tumor grew. Within a month, every parent's worst nightmare began. The doctors told Amy's parents the cancer had spread and there was nothing more that could be done.

Shortly after, Amy began to lose her ability to move. She could no longer speak, control her neck or her eyes. Her feeding tube brought her great discomfort and agitation. And yet, even in those moments of immense suffering, there were still glimpses of her up until her last days here on earth. Times when she tried to move her little mouth to talk; tried to reach out. She was still Amy. She was still fighting. She still wanted to live.

Her father, a hardworking HVAC technician, stayed by her side through it all, choosing to be there for his daughter every moment he could.

This loving family is left not only with unimaginable grief, but also the financial burden that comes with laying their little girl to rest. We are asking for help to give Amy a funeral and burial filled with the peace and love she deserves and to help this family remain afloat among financial strain.

Amy tenía 11 años. Una hija amorosa, una hermana mayor, y una luz en la vida de su familia. Deja a su hermano de 6 años y a sus padres, quienes hicieron todo lo que estuvo en sus manos para luchar por ella.

En octubre del año pasado, después de buscar una segunda opinión médica, la familia de Amy supo que tenía un tumor cerebral. Se aferraron a la esperanza e hicieron todo lo posible. Los doctores le realizaron a Amy una biopsia cerebral que llevó a la siembra tumoral: una complicación rara de la biopsia, más común en tumores cerebrales, que hizo que el tumor creciera. En menos de un mes, comenzó la peor pesadilla de cualquier padre. Los doctores les dijeron a los padres de Amy que el cáncer se había propagado y que no había nada más que se pudiera hacer.

Poco después, Amy comenzó a perder la capacidad de moverse. Ya no podía hablar, ni controlar su cuello ni sus ojos. Su sonda de alimentación le causaba mucho malestar y agitación. Y aun así, incluso en esos momentos de inmenso sufrimiento, todavía había destellos de ella hasta sus últimos días en la tierra. Momentos en los que intentaba mover su pequeña boca para hablar; intentaba moverse. Seguía siendo Amy. Seguía luchando. Todavía quería vivir.

Su padre, un técnico de HVAC trabajador, estuvo a su lado en todo momento, eligiendo estar con su hija cada instante que podía.

Esta familia amorosa no solo enfrenta un dolor inimaginable, sino también la carga financiera que conlleva dar descanso a su pequeña. Pedimos ayuda para darle a Amy un funeral y un entierro llenos de la paz y el amor que merece, y para ayudar a esta familia a mantenerse a flote en medio de la presión económica.
