Help Us Honor the Life of Amyri Wilson
It is with a broken heart that I share the devastating loss of my son, Amyri Wilson, a 23-year-old who was murdered this past Saturday while confined in North Branch Correctional Institution, a supermax prison in Maryland.
Earlier this year, I raised concerns with Interfaith Action for Human Rights (IAHR) Director of Community Engagement, Natasha White, about the many abuses my son endured in solitary confinement.
After months of working with IAHR and Disability Rights Maryland. Amyri, who struggled with mental health challenges, had finally been granted a transfer by a judge during his hearing last Wednesday. Horrifically, that transfer never happened.
The prison claims Amyri’s death was a suicide, but reports from other incarcerated individuals and conflicting accounts from medical staff suggest otherwise. Too many families have lost loved ones in custody under suspicious circumstances, and their deaths have been hastily written off as suicides to avoid accountability.
We are determined to uncover the truth. To do so, we are seeking to arrange a second, independent autopsy in addition to covering Amyri’s funeral expenses. This has placed an immense financial burden on our family at a time when we are grieving an unimaginable loss.
We need your help.
Your support will allow us to:
• Provide Amyri with a dignified funeral.
• Fund an independent autopsy to ensure accountability and justice.
Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference in helping us through this painful time.
Ways to Help:

• Share this request with your networks to help spread the word.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity as we fight for answers and honor Amyri’s memory.
