Amy Davidson Brown has faced more than her share of challenges. Eleven years ago, she was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cell carcinoma with 70% sarcomatoid differentials. After seven years of chemotherapy and several surgeries, including a nephrectomy, her cancer was considered stable, but she will never be in remission. Amy must have CT scans every three months for the rest of her life to monitor her health. In 2025, Amy lost her health insurance and, during a routine scan, learned she had two new spots on her lungs. Just nine days before Christmas, she was let go from her job of five years after missing work to help care for her grandchildren. Despite her best efforts, she has not been able to find new employment.
This difficult time became even harder when Amy’s daughter, Taylor, suffered a seizure and was rushed to the hospital, where she experienced another seizure. Taylor is now unable to drive or work indefinitely, and she and her two children are staying with Amy. Taylor has ongoing specialist appointments with a neurologist, cardiologist, and other doctors, and her daughter Tabby is scheduled for surgery in February. Amy is now receiving final due notices on bills, including her mortgage, and the family’s biggest needs are keeping up with housing, utilities, groceries, gas for transportation to appointments, and medical-related expenses like copays and prescriptions.
This family has gone through so much devastation lately, it is too much to bear. Amy and Taylor are both single moms trying to provide for their children, and without being able to work and bring in an income right now, they don't know how they are going to possibly make it. Any support you can give will help them keep a roof over their heads, get the medical care they need, and provide for their children during this incredibly difficult time.
