On June 7th, my cousin and very best friend, Amy McLaughlin’s world changed forever. Her fiancé and the love of her life for the past 10 years, Gian Gonzalez, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at just 38 years old due to an unknown health issue.

There are no words that can fully capture the heartbreak and shock of such a devastating loss. Gian was the purest, most genuine, most accepting and authentic, loving person. (If you knew G, you were one of the lucky ones to experience this.) Amy and Gian shared the most beautiful life together, full of silliness and laughter, love, dreams, and plans for the future. Now, in the midst of her unimaginable grief, she is also facing the overwhelming reality of adjusting to life without her partner, emotionally, mentally, and financially.

While we still don’t have all the answers surrounding his sudden passing, what we do know is that Amy will need support as she navigates the road ahead. The financial impact of losing a partner is immediate and heavy, as her household expenses and monthly bills have now doubled, there have been unexpected costs along the way, and we have the eventual hope of finding Amy a new place to live and call home some day.

Your support can help ease some of the burden on Amy during this time of grief and transition. No one should have to worry about staying afloat financially while trying to process the loss of the person they were building their life with.

All funds raised will go directly to helping Amy cover her extra living expenses, give her the space and time she needs to grieve, heal, and put her in a place where she may eventually be able to move and begin to rebuild.
