Support Amy McKinnell in Her Time of Loss
Donation protected
We never need our villages more than in matters of birth and death. I am Melanie, founder of Family Village, a Colorado cooperative that resources parents during the earliest days of parenthood by being the village we all so desperately need. Today, Family Village turns its focus towards one of our staff following the sudden tragic death of a loved one.
Our dear friend, Villager and Childcare Director of our Boulder Village, Amy McKinnell lost her beloved partner Todd suddenly this week to a heart attack. The two had fallen in love after more than a decade of close family friendship and were a week away from spending their first summer together following a year of long-distance love.
Losing a loved one is heart-breaking. Losing the love-of-one’s-life, tragically AND in the prime of their lives, is utterly world-shattering. These are the moments we must rally to lift up those who’ve been brought to their knees in grief –helping carry that which they can no longer hold.
We are calling upon our Villagers (and those they love) to help raise $14,444 to give Amy and her four children the space and support they need to navigate the many unknowns and the devastating loss they now face. As one who has given so much to the children of our Village –and by extension, the parents– we know how vitally-important it is that Amy be supported by a village of her own during this time.
We ask that you contribute whatever you are able and to share this far and wide. Let’s give Amy the ability to grieve and process this enormous loss without a looming sense of financial pressure… because what is GoFundMe if not our virtual Village gone viral?
