Support Amy’s last Fight

I have created this GoFundMe for my mother, Amy P. Brissey, 51.

Amy is a Pickens native, loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, Nae-Nae, Aunt and a FANTASTIC special education teacher. She has always gone WAY above and beyond for her students and family. Her Grandboys are her WHOLE LIFE.

updated 3/31 : Amy fought her last battle on Earth & entered into Glory on 3/30/2025. Thanks to everyone who has supported all of us along the way, & for still supporting all of us.

She has suffered from damage caused by Covid-19 years ago, causing her to have RA (autoimmune disease). As of Feb 22, 2025, my mother was hospitalized with Flu A. She has been critical in the ICU, on a ventilator this entire time (34 days as of 3/28).

As of last night, she is back on a paralytic again for the 3rd time (medically paralyzes her muscle movement, etc.), in which the ventilator does all of the breathing work for her, to allow her lungs and body to rest/heal while receiving 100% oxygen.

10 days ago, she had a trach placed in her throat, and one of her trach rings was fractured. They did this procedure to be able to connect the ventilator through her throat because she had the vent tube in her mouth longer than they like anyone to be. This is not fully “healed.”

She is now suffering from:

- ARDS (Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome): her lungs are hardened and it's difficult for her to receive the oxygen she needs for her body. Lung scarring is irreversible.

- Acute Hypoxic & hyper sonic respiratory Failure

- Anemia

- Elevated LFTs

- AKI

- Recurrent MRSA Pneumonia/other infections

This GoFundMe is to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses & possibly any other bills that may come up, since my father is currently on unpaid FMLA for at least over a month.
