Our employee, Amy (Prosser) Garrett, was recently affected by a duplex fire on January 27. While the fire was contained to the lower unit of the home, Amy, her wife, and their four cats lived in the upper unit and experienced significant smoke and soot damage.
Thankfully, everyone made it out safely. However, due to contamination from smoke and soot, nearly all of their belongings must be replaced — including furniture, household items, kitchen and bathroom essentials, and most personal items. Even salvageable items require professional cleaning because soot residue is hazardous.
Since the fire, they have been staying in a hotel and have now secured a new lease, with move-in scheduled for February 28. As they prepare to start over, they are working to replace basic necessities and furnishings for their new home.
We are sharing Amy’s story to help support her family as they rebuild. Any contribution is deeply appreciated and will go directly toward helping them recover from this unexpected loss.
