Hello, my name is Toni Baldwin-Dufour. I live in Southern Illinois and I am starting this fundraiser for my daughter, Amy, and her fiancé, Eric.

Amy and Eric are victims of the Eaton fire in Altadena, California. The fire ravaged their neighborhood and left their home uninhabitable with extensive toxic smoke, ash, and debris inside. The exterior of their home was also damaged by fire. Their pups, Maxwell and Madison, are staying with family while Amy and Eric are staying with other family members. There are conservative estimates of up to 3 months before the city is able to begin neighborhood cleanup (likely more due to the scope and severity of this disaster) and residents have been warned not to “repopulate” and begin clean up of the neighborhood before then due to risk of re-contamination of area with carcinogens and heavy metals. The area is without power and has a contaminated water supply.

Neighbors who have been through this before tell us we should look into:

(1) get testing setup for toxicity

(2) get a structural assessment (apparently even a neighbor's house burning can cause structural damage in old homes from the intense heat)

(3) remove everything inside and get insurance to replace whatever they'll replace (clean whatever professionals say we can safely clean)

(4) have appliances assessed for recouping (and cleaned if possible)

After city cleanup finishes for houses that didn't survive;

(5) have hvac & vent systems assessed and fixed

(6) major cleaning, removal of anything necessary (like flooring replacements, painting,

(7) outside repairs and abatement of attic and insulation

We are looking to raise funds to get them back in their home and make them whole again.
