Support Amy After the Loss of Her Mother
Donation protected
Introduction:
My cousin Amy recently lost her mother, my Aunt Dee, after a long and difficult battle with lung cancer and COPD on June 12. Dee was a single mother and Amy’s closest family, and her passing has left Amy facing significant financial and emotional challenges. Despite working tirelessly for over a decade as a commercial content manager, Amy’s income couldn’t keep up with the mounting costs of Dee’s care. Growing up, we spent holidays together—Christmas, Easter, summer trips to the Texas coast—and though Amy has extended family who care deeply for her, no one can replace the love and daily presence of her mom. Now, I’m asking for your help to ease the burdens she’s facing.
The Story:
Aunt Dee’s final months were spent in hospitals, with Amy juggling ICU vigils and her full-time job—catching sleep in stiff chairs between shifts while advocating for her mom’s care. Now, she’s left with lingering medical bills, the family home in need of repairs, and the exhausting reality of navigating the weight of grief alongside the practical challenges ahead.
Aunt Dee was my godmother—a woman generous with her spirit, who spent her later years working with the elderly in assisted living. She had a sharp eye for detail (she’d tweak my Christmas card designs until they were just right) and an appreciation for fine stationery. Most of all, I will remember our beach trips through the years, where we’d laugh while feeding the seagulls after a day of watching the waves roll into the shore. More recently, our conversations often turned to the Spurs as we speculated regarding Popovich’s next move. Losing her has left a void that can’t be filled.
The Ask:
Funds will go directly toward:
- Outstanding medical bills from Dee’s extended hospitalization
- Essential home repairs to stabilize Amy’s living situation
- Basic needs while Amy takes time to grieve and adjust
Every bit of support helps:
$5 = Coffee to fuel a long day of paperwork and calls
$100 = Groceries for a week as she rebuilds her routine
$500 = A critical step toward home repairs that bring safety and peace of mind
Amy has always been there for others—now it's our turn to show up for her. If you're unable to give, sharing this fundraiser keeps Aunt Dee's generous spirit alive. Thank you for being part of Amy's support system during this difficult chapter.
