Supporting Amruta & Michael

Dear Family & Friends,

On Friday 10/25, Amruta went to the Emergency Department at Maine Medical Center in Portland after having had severe headaches, along with nausea and vomiting, for over a week, which turned out to be resulting from a brain tumor! This fund is being created to help Amruta and Michael cover the medical costs of her recovery, including radiation, chemotherapy, and further testing, as well as other unknown costs that may occur. Continuing the story, she has not had migraines or any symptoms of this magnitude ever before, & we were all extremely concerned. This seemed to come out of the blue for no apparent reason, although we tried to find one! Medical staff at the hospital were also uncertain as to whether or not it was a very bad, long lasting migraine, or something else. Fortunately, they decided to perform tests including a CT scan of her head, thinking that maybe they'd find a blood clot that was causing her symptoms. but when the results came back, we got the shocking news that a mass had been found in the frontal area of her brain! Amruta, Michael, Tom and I were more than stunned and shaken upon hearing this news. It wasn't even a possibility in our minds! So from there began a 5-day Hospital stay including an MRI, identifying the brain mass as a malignant tumor, about 4 cm. A 3.5 hour surgery was performed on Sunday 10/27 to remove it. She had excellent medical staff the entire time she was in the hospital, and the surgeon who happened to be available to perform her surgery is known to be extremely skilled in cases like hers. Currently, she's healing well from surgery and feeling better each day. She will be receiving radiation in one month for 6 weeks, and chemotherapy in the form of a pill. For now, she will be focusing on much needed rest and healing from the surgery. We would love to try and raise this financial support for them to help pay for any uncovered medical expenses, as well as Michael’s unpaid time off from work recently, and in the future for appointments and caregiving as needed. Any amount that you are able to contribute will be so helpful to them at this time! We will post regular updates on her progress so that everyone can follow the journey.
