It is with a very heavy heart, I write this about my dear friend, Damian.
Damian Bell, a devoted husband and loving father of two young sons went to Baycare St. Joseph’s Tampa for surgery to remove a malignant tumor in his colon in addition to 2 feet of his large intestine and lymph nodes. He was unfortunately diagnosed with stage 3, an advanced stage of colon cancer.
Damian has a significant family history of Colon Cancer, after losing his own father he was diligent about his screenings in efforts to prevent this current scenario. As a nurse, it was heartbreaking to find out that, despite Damian's significant history he was incorrectly advised of when to schedule his next screening. Colorectal cancer remains the third most common cause of malignancy in men and women in the United States with African-American men and women having the highest risk and the risk even greater when there is a significant family history.
At this point, Damian will require aggressive chemotherapy and other modalities of treatment in efforts to halt further growth of this cancer and save his life.
Those who know Damian would vouch for him being the most loyal of friends, and a caring, hard-working family man. His wife, Prudence is also facing challenges and is currently on short term disability. In addition, Prudence is also the primary caregiver for her ailing mother, who has vascular dementia. For those who don't know Damian and Prudence, they have the best love story, they are loving parents and they both have kind and generous souls.
Since having this recent surgery and hospitalization, Damian has not been able to work and provide for his family. This devastating diagnosis has brought on many challenges to include accumulating medical expenses and basic daily living expenses that are currently beyond reach. Damian and Prudence are struggling to manage their family and the medical care that is desperately needed for Damian at this time.
I am asking ALL to please join me in prayer for this family and consider donating ANY amount as soon as possible! I created this Gofundme account for the Bell Family because I know there are still kind folks in this world that can be of assistance and give hope to this family in their time of need.
