Help Me Study Abroad in Cameroon!

Hey y’all, my name is Amiya Marbles, I’m a 21-year-old rising senior at Dickinson College, and I need your help to make a life-changing opportunity possible: studying abroad in Cameroon this fall!

In 2021, I wasn’t sure how I was going to make college happen. As someone who’s financially independent, I faced a lot of uncertainty. But then, the POSSE Foundation found me, believed in me, and gave me the amazing opportunity to attend Dickinson with a full-tuition scholarship. Since then, I’ve grown in so many ways, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, into the strong and excellent woman I am today.

At Dickinson, studying abroad is a major part of the experience. I always knew I wanted to take that leap. But in the spring of my sophomore year, I was diagnosed with learning disabilities that affected my ability to go abroad during my junior year which is when most students do. After a long journey of learning how to navigate and advocate for myself, I’m finally getting another chance.

This fall, I’ve been accepted into the Fall 2025: Cameroon – Development and Social Change program through SIT, one of Dickinson’s global partners. I’m beyond excited to immerse myself in a new culture, engage with local communities, and study social change in a real-world context.

But here’s the thing: while my tuition is covered, there are still a number of out-of-pocket costs, like flights, a visa, immunizations, and living expenses that I can’t cover on my own. Senior year already comes with a lot of expenses, and as someone who is still financially independent, I’m turning to my community for support.
