Hi everyone!
My name is Jaimie Tomczyk and I'm starting this go fund me for Amiyah Miller and her family. I have known Amiyah for about 2 years now and let me tell you she really is the strongest person I have ever met!
Amiyah was diagnosed with DSRCT (desmoplastic small round cell tumor) on March 7th of this year. This type of cancer is an extremely rare and aggressive soft tissue sarcoma that forms in the body’s connective tissue. It is typically found in boys/men and normally in the stomach. For Amiyah, hers was found in her throat/under her tongue causing her to have trouble swallowing and speaking.
Amiyah started chemotherapy on March 25th, only 4 days after her 15th birthday. She went through five rounds before Brigham and Woman’s hospital decided that it was time to remove her tumor.
On June 12th Amiyah underwent a very major surgery that lasted 12 hours.
Her tumor was measured at 2 1/2 inches and they were able to successfully remove all of it. This was not promised as they thought they would have to potentially remove her tongue completely but thanks to her amazing doctors they only had to remove a portion of it.
After this Amiyah spent her time enjoying every moment she could before she started her radiation treatments and more on July 24th.
Since then she has had multiple rounds of radiation and chemotherapy to remove and further cancerous cells that may have been left behind from her surgery.
Due to all of these treatments Amiyah has experienced a lot of pain and other illnesses. On August 12th her doctors decided to admit her to Boston Children’s hospital. She has been placed on precautions, meaning she can not leave her room and is on a very restricted diet. She is slowly starting to feel better and get her spirits back up.
While she has been at Boston Children’s hospital she has enjoyed making crafts, playing games, watching her favorite tv shows (food network) and spending time with her family - Lisa Roman (her mother), Gene Miller (her father) and Briella Miller (her sister).
When Amiyah finally gets to go home she can’t wait to ride her bike, go on some fall walks, go apple/pumpkin picking, and go to a Red Sox game!
Im asking that you help Amiyah enjoy these days and also her family in these hard times. Lisa has had to be on leave from her job in order to take care of Amiyah. Times are not easy and we all know life is expensive between rent, bills, and even groceries.
If you’d like to send a direct gift to Amiyah I know you would make her day! She would love Amazon, Michael’s, or Starbucks gift cards.
You can contact me through here for Amiyah’s email.
Whatever you can do to help would be more than appreciated! ❤️
I ask that you keep Amiyah and her family in your thoughts and prayers as well!
