Why this matters - Edward's message

At just 14 years old, Amir was forced to flee his home because of political violence.
He left behind his parents, his family, and everything familiar.

Except for his determination to learn.

Around the world, countless refugees are denied access to education. Today, I am asking for your help to make sure one of them doesn't lose his future.

I met Amir (an alias to protect his identity*) at a local library. Despite everything he lost, he shows up every day with the same goal: to keep learning and build a better future.

Education is not just a certificate for Amir.
It is a stepping stone.

*Documentation confirming his identity, refugee status, and my connection to him can be provided privately for verification if needed.

Who we are

Organizer:
I'm Eric Chan, acting as the required adult organizer on behalf of my son, Edward, for legal and financial compliance.

My son Edward is the initiator and day-to-day organizer of this campaign.

For the past year, Edward and volunteers have worked closely with Amir to improve his English and Math. We've seen his discipline, his curiosity, and his refusal to give up. His abilities are impressive, and we want to make sure he reaches his full potential.

When facing instability in life, school provides more than academics; it provides structure, purpose, and a path forward when everything else is uncertain.

Help a refugee improve his life through education:

Given the instability of Amir's life, online school is his best chance to learn consistently. We've worked together using Khan Academy, and the next step is enrolling him in online courses offered by an accredited, international school - the Keystone School (https://www.keystoneschoolonline.com/).

Keystone is fully accredited by the US Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools' Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS).

To successfully earn his diploma, Amir would need 4 years of coursework. Each course has a fixed cost, and we've created a complete four-year plan, attached below.

With a High School Diploma recognized worldwide, Amir could enter university and pursue meaningful work. He'll have the opportunity to start building his career.

Sponsor a part of a course or a full course
Keystone Online High School courses vary in structure and cost (https://www.keystoneschoolonline.com/collections/high-school-courses):

All donations will pay for tuition as Amir progresses through classes.

Courses range from $200 to $350 a semester.

$25 - Helps offset course costs
$50 - Contributes toward a course
$125 - Funds roughly half a course
$250 - Approximately one course
$500 - Approximately two courses
$2500 - Covers one academic year

Transparency and Accountability:

100% of donations go toward paying for his tuition. I will be responsible for receiving and tracking all donations and using your generous donations for Amir's online education. Official receipts and internal accounting will be shared online for full transparency.

Funds will not be transferred directly to Amir or sent to an unsupported country. Payments will be made directly to the accredited online school.

Your support matters.

Your contribution today will directly purchase his first course. Every gift, big or small, makes a difference. Also, please share this fundraising campaign with your family and friends. Every share increases the chance that Amir is one step closer to reaching his goal.

Being torn away from his homeland changed everything - but it doesn't have to end his future.

Updates:

I will share updates on this page so everyone can stay in touch with Amir's amazing journey.
