INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone! My name is Yair Pavon, and I am a Honduran-American third-year Television, Film, and Media Studies student at California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA). Furthermore, I am the producer for an upcoming proof-of-concept vertical microdrama series in partnership with the popular vertical company DramaBox, written and conceptualized by our wonderful creative lead Amirah Myles.
We would like to raise funds for this amazing project to be the best it can be without limitations! To communicate the importance of this project, I would like for our very own Amirah to speak about her experiences with this sensational story. Read her statement and logline below!
LOGLINE

STATEMENT BY AMIRAH MYLES:
Hi everyone, my name is Amirah, and I’m a film student at Cal State LA originally from Fresno, California. Growing up biracial, I was often picked on because of my hair, and when I looked at TV shows, movies, or ads, I rarely saw anyone who looked like me. I didn’t see girls with my features, my background, or my identity being represented in a real or positive way. That absence stayed with me.
As I got older, I realized how much representation matters, not just in how others see you, but in how you see yourself. That’s a big part of why I started writing and creating stories. I want to help change that narrative and create characters that my community can feel confident through. Recently, I pitched a vertical microdrama concept centered around characters of color and I’m so excited to share that it was officially selected by DramaBox to be produced. This opportunity means everything to me. It’s not only a step forward in my journey as a writer, but also a chance to bring authentic, inclusive storytelling to life on screen.
Now, as a student balancing school, work, and everyday responsibilities, my team and I have run into some financial challenges while bringing this project to life.
Because this vertical film includes a larger cast and more detailed production elements, we need support to cover essentials like securing locations, providing meals (craft services) for our cast and crew, wardrobe, and overall production costs.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, would truly make a difference in helping us create this film at the level it deserves. Your support will not only help tell this story, but also give student filmmakers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow creatively!
Thank you so much from our production team!
