For years, Amira has been a source of strength, care, and protection for children who had no one else to turn to. A former nurse who dedicated her life to helping others, she now finds herself in urgent need of support.
This campaign is to help Amira continue caring for the children she raised, while also managing her own serious health challenges under extremely difficult conditions.
Personal Story / Inspiration
Thirteen years ago, a tragic event changed everything. A young mother suddenly disappeared, leaving behind three children, a baby boy just six months old, a seven-year-old girl, and a nine-year-old boy.
That night, they arrived at their grandmother’s and aunt’s home, led by the eldest child carrying his baby sibling. With their father absent, and later unwilling to take responsibility before eventually passing away, the children were left without parental care.
At the age of 60, Amira stepped forward without hesitation. Despite her age and limited resources, she took full responsibility for raising them. She ensured they had decent clothes, were well cared for, and received an education. Every day, she walked them to and from school to keep them safe.
She became not just their aunt, but their guardian, protector, and provider.
Today, those children are:
Suraz (22 years old)
Sora (20 years old)
Haydar (13 years old)
Their lives are a testament to Amira’s resilience, sacrifice, and unconditional love.
Problem Statement
While Amira has spent her life caring for others, including her work as a nurse, she now faces overwhelming challenges of her own.
She suffers from hypothyroidism, diabetes, and other health conditions, making it increasingly difficult to sustain the physical and financial demands of caregiving. Her situation has worsened to the point where she often survives on just one meal a day.
Living in Baghdad, Iraq, she has no access to social or government assistance. Despite her sacrifices, she carries this burden alone, with limited means and growing medical needs.
Even their home is in poor condition when it rains, the roof leaks, creating additional hardship for the family.
The reality is simple: Amira has given everything she has, and now she needs help.
