I am a member of my house of worship's Health and Wellness committee and a retired teacher from the Emeryville Unified School District. Many of us in the Oakland-San Francisco Bay area affectionately know Aminah as "The Sandwich Lady". For years, this single mother has served people with kindness, generosity, and a warm spirit. As a local entrepreneur, she is also known for her hat and clothing designs.
On Thursday, March 12, 2026, she underwent her second surgery as part of her follow-up treatment to remove breast cancer that was discovered in November 2025. On March 19, 2026, during her at-home recovery from the surgery, Aminah fell down and hit her shoulder and head. As a consequence of hitting her head, she sustained a concussion. This incident extends her initial recovery from the surgery, of two to three months, to minimally four months, provided there are no complications from the head injury she has suffered. Because of the concussion Aminah is not able to begin chemo-radiation treatment for at least a month.
During the recovery period, she will be unable to work as usual, and the request for support through this GoFundMe campaign is for her basic overhead expenses and special dietary needs while she focuses on healing. The goal of this campaign is $20,000 to assist her during her recovery period. All donations, large or small, are greatly appreciated.
Please keep Aminah in your prayers and consider supporting this fundraiser if you are able. May G'd reward you for your generosity and grant Aminah complete cancer-free healing and no future complications from the concussion she suffered. Thanking you in advance for your kindness and support.
