Support AmeriCorps Volunteers' Dedication

This year, I have been volunteering as a math tutor at my daughter’s high school through a program called Achievement Connections that is staffed by AmeriCorps volunteers.

On April 28th, I received an email stating, “Late Sunday night (April 27, 2025), United Way of Dane County was informed that all AmeriCorps State and National Competitive grant awards have been terminated effective immediately.” The entire program shut down in one week and hundreds of Americorp volunteers across the state and country lost their jobs.

The two AmeriCorps volunteers running the program, who were already getting paid peanuts to be there, decided to stick it out for the rest of the year UNPAID to make sure the kids still got help with their math classes. I’m hoping we can raise some funds for them to show appreciation for their continued time and commitment to this important program!
