Support Amelia's Fight

Amelia, the daughter of my best friend since 7th grade, Kelly needs our love and support! I have the most amazing community of f humans around me and I know we can at least help ease the financial burden a bit for Amelia's family! As Kelly and Nick/Nikki spend much of their time with her at the hospital, bills at home and care for their other children do not go away. 

 

Amelia Hill, age 15, sophomore at Perham High School in MN, has received news that she has T-Cell Lymphoma or T-Cell Leukemia.

 

On Wednesday, Amelia had an ultrasound on a lump on her neck along with a CT Scan which displayed less than favorable results. With that, she was sent to Fargo immediately. Fluid was discovered in her lungs due to a large mass discovered in her chest. She was then admitted to Sanford Pediatric Oncology where she had surgery to have the fluid drained and biopsies completed. Unfortunately, the news came back that cancer is in fact present. Beginning Monday, she will undergo a bone marrow biopsy which will narrow down what specific cancer she has. She also will begin chemo on Monday. Many other tests will need to be completed, such as a lumbar puncture to check spinal fluid, MRI of neck and back, PET Scan to locate all of the masses and insertion a central line for easy IV access.

 

There is so much left unknown at this time but what we do know is that Amelia is strong as hell and has amazing support of her beloved parents, siblings, immediate and extended family and all of her amazing friends. Life changes so unexpectedly, so fast, and this includes financially as well. No one is ever prepared for anything such as this. Even with insurance, medical expenses will build. I'm hoping by creating this page, we can help alleviate the additional stress financial strain can cause and just allow the family to spend their time focusing on their beautiful daughter and her healing.
