Support Amelia West's Battle Against Brain Cancer

Hey! My name is Amelia West, I am 23 years old and was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer (oligodendroglioma) just over a year ago. When I was diagnosed, I was given a life expectancy and told that there was no cure or effective treatment outside of a craniotomy to remove the tumor (if the tumor is operable). I had a successful craniotomy with a full resection of my first tumor on July 25, 2023. However, when the genetic testing of my tumor came back I was diagnosed with grade 2 oligodendroglioma, with some cells showing grade 3 traits. This is a disease that continuously grows back.

This all being said, a new drug that I have been waiting on was FDA approved 3 days ago. I am the perfect candidate for this drug as I have the IDH mutation and have yet to have any other treatments or clinical trials outside of my surgery. The drug is called Vorasidenib and has shown great success during clinical trials. This prescription could increase my life expectancy by 30 years as it is the only current treatment that has shown results of slowing the growth of Oligo tumors.

The unfortunate news is that this medication is not yet covered by insurance companies. There are only 14,000 people with my cancer in the United States and a large percentage of us are not eligible to take this drug. Due to it being such a rare prescription, as well as a newly approved prescription, it is unlikely that insurance companies will cover it for quite some time. This medication is going to cost me $40,000 each month. Any help is more than appreciated, if I ever receive more than I need for my month I will be donating all of it to other Oligo patients around the world for their treatments. Thank you all so much!
